I enjoyed this podcast. I have been practicing yoga for 16 years and teaching for 9 years now. Two years ago I started making sidesteps in the realization that yoga in its form based structure was limiting me in a way. So I went to dansclasses and looked out for other mindful movement/embodied stuff and got to know Fighting Monkey and from there on to EYP and EFC.
Listening to this podcast makes me excited and happy. Lately I am trying to bring in some more sidesteps of movement/embodied awareness into my yoga teaching. Like this weekend I am hosting a combo of Fighting Monkey practices and yoga. Maybe mindful strength might be something to weave into some of my classes, or in my parent-child yoga I could incorporate more of the rough housing idea and weightlifting kids. Adaptability, resilience is what it’s all about.
I could also really connect to what was being said about clients either pushing too much, they all want vinyasa or astanga and then another group who just want to stay in their comfort zone. I find it hard to offer a middle path class. If I you bring in more mindfulness awareness with the first group they are like ‘nah boring” and if I try to let the second group go into some more resilience strength stuff, they back off.
So how to get people “moving” so that they make new neuromuscular pathways is like me new mission and putting this movement scene together with yoga.
Therefore: thank you. Tis talk has been very inspiring to me.

Comment for Kathryn: have you tried Bowspring yoga? If you want to become more agile and better at jumping you may find this helpful. It’s worked for me!
